Why a blog on your PrestaShop store (and what it really earns)

An online store without a blog fights on one kind of search only: the ones where the visitor already knows exactly what to buy. Yet most of the traffic is decided before that — while they compare, hesitate, look things up. That is precisely the blog's ground.
What your product pages cannot do
A product page targets a transactional query: "Honda Civic cold air intake kit", "45 litre trekking pack". Indispensable, but narrow:
- It answers neither "how to choose an intake kit" nor "45 or 60 litre pack for a three-day hike".
- It ages badly in the results: little text, few inbound links, few reasons for Google to lift it.
- It never attracts the buyer who has not yet chosen a brand — the one you have to convince first.
An in-depth article does the exact opposite: it captures informational intent, establishes your expertise and redirects to your product pages at the moment the decision is made. That is internal linking: every guide irrigates the pages that sell.
What an active blog actually changes
Stores that publish regularly see three cumulative effects:
- More entry doors. Each article is one more indexed page, ranking on less contested long-tail queries.
- A freshness signal. A site that publishes is alive; Google recrawls more often, and the whole domain benefits — product pages included.
- Natural links. People cite a good comparison, never a product page. Backlinks land on useful content.
Why so few merchants do it
Because writing is expensive in time. A serious article — topic research, writing, formatting, publishing — takes several hours. Multiplied by a weekly rhythm, that is a part-time job most stores do not have.
That is the problem Publium solves: the module installs a complete blog inside your PrestaShop (categories, RSS, sitemap, structured data), and the app analyses your catalogue, proposes keywords with commercial intent, writes in your tone and publishes — draft, immediate or scheduled. You keep the review; the tool does the rest.
Where to start
- List ten questions your customers ask before buying: those are your first ten articles — and start with a buying guide, the format that converts best.
- Target one precise query per article, in the long tail: "waterproofing walking boots" rather than "boots" — the full method is here.
- Link systematically: every article should mention two or three products or categories, with their links.
- Hold a rhythm, however modest: two articles a month published beat eight planned.
