Humanising AI-generated content — the checklist

AI-generated content often comes out "clean but empty": grammatically flawless, factually correct, and yet nobody seems to have written it. That is not a flaw in the tool, it is a missing step. Humanising an AI text takes five minutes and makes the difference between filler and content that carries your brand. Here is the checklist.
Why the step is essential
AI writes from averages: it produces the most probable text, therefore the smoothest. What is missing is not language quality — it is what only you hold: a figure from your own experience, a customer case, a firm opinion. That is exactly the argument developed in having AI write your blog: the AI holds the pen, you hold the point.
The seven-point checklist
- Add a fact only you know. A real delivery time, a recurring support complaint, an internal statistic. One is enough to anchor the text in reality.
- Take a position at least once. Useful content commits. "Avoid that material in wet conditions" beats "each material has its advantages".
- Replace one generality with an example. "A good hiking pack is comfortable" → "at 45 litres, look for a ventilated back panel, otherwise you are sweating from the first climb".
- Break the rhythm. AI lines up sentences of equal length. Cut one, lengthen another. Irregular rhythm is a human signature.
- Strip the varnish. "It is important to note that", "in today's world", "the key to success lies in": those phrases signal autopilot. Cut them.
- Check the invented facts. AI can produce a plausible but false figure. Anything not in your catalogue or not sourceable has to be verified — especially descriptions generated from a photo, where invention must stay forbidden.
- Read the first and last sentence aloud. Those two carry the voice. If they sound generic, the whole text suffers.
Framing upfront rather than fixing afterwards
Half the work happens before generation: a good brief (tone, mandatory examples, angle) produces a text that is already less smooth. A tool that starts from your real catalogue has a head start, because it is not averaging in a vacuum — it is describing your products. That is what Publium does, and it is also what sets it apart from a general-purpose ChatGPT.
To touch up a precise passage without regenerating everything, the app offers a targeted rewrite of the selected fragment — you keep the rest intact.
FAQ
Does Google penalise AI content? No: Google judges quality and usefulness, not the writing tool. Humanised, useful AI content is perfectly legitimate.
How long per article? Five to ten minutes of well-targeted edits are enough on a draft that was already framed.
In short
Humanising is not rewriting: it is injecting the fact, the example and the opinion the machine could not have known, then stripping the varnish. Want to see the draft come out already in your voice? Ask for a demo.
